Sristi Kc

Sristi KC - DYG Speaker

Sristi KC, a motivational speaker, dancer, and visionary from Nepal, lost her sight at sixteen. Despite initial struggles, she overcame numerous challenges to lead a life filled with happiness and dignity. Determined to change the narrative for blind individuals, Sristi founded "Blind Rocks!" to empower the visually impaired and challenge societal perceptions.

Sristi's passion for dance led her to teach herself and others through various workshops, proving that blindness does not equate to limitations. Her academic achievements include a Choreomundus International Master’s Degree in Dance Practice, Knowledge, and Heritage, and multiple awards for academic excellence.

 

Sristi's leadership and advocacy have taken her to over 20 countries, where she delivers motivational speeches and conducts transformative training sessions. Her efforts have earned her numerous accolades, including the Outstanding Communication Award 2022 and the National Youth Award 2016.

​Her inspiring journey has led her to be a semi-finalist in "Dancing with the Stars Nepal" and has been immortalized in the biopic movie "Blind Rocks" and in the innovative audio descriptive music video "Another World," making her a true embodiment of resilience and empowerment.

Hari Budha Magar

Hari Budha Magar, a Nepalese double above-knee amputee, has shattered mountaineering barriers with his extraordinary achievements. In 2017, he became the first double above-knee amputee to summit Mera Peak at 6,476 meters. On May 19, 2023, he reached new heights by summiting Mount Everest, the world’s tallest mountain at 8,848 meters.

A former Corporal in the British Army’s Gurkha regiment, Hari lost his legs in an IED explosion in Afghanistan in 2010. Despite this, he has been a fierce advocate for disabled climbers, playing a key role in overturning Nepal's ban on disabled climbers for Everest in 2018.

Hari's journey from losing his legs to conquering Everest exemplifies his mission to change global perceptions about disability. His story represents the nearly 1 billion people worldwide living with disabilities and stands as a testament to resilience and determination.

In June 2023, Hari became the first double above-knee amputee to summit Denali, North America's highest peak, as part of his 7 Summits challenge. Despite facing harsh conditions, he and his team reached the summit, proving once again that "nothing is impossible."

We are honored to have Hari Budha Magar as our keynote speaker at the final DYG EUREKA Workshop. His inspiring story of overcoming adversity is sure to motivate and empower all who attend.

Gaumaya Gurung

Gaumaya Gurung - DYG Speaker

Gaumaya Gurung, a Nepali actor based in London, has made significant strides both in the entertainment industry and in social activism. Crowned 'Miss UK Nepal' in 2011, with the 'Miss Talent' accolade, she has since featured in notable projects like "Kabbadi 4 - The Final Match" (2021), "Gurkha Beneath the Bravery" (2021), and the BBC TV Series "Black Narcissus" (2020), with upcoming films "Chukul" and "Fulbari" set for release in 2022 and 2023. Beyond acting, Gaumaya is deeply committed to impactful change; she works in eye health care and runs SeeNepal, a non-profit in Nepal. Her efforts in building a counseling center for ex-child soldiers in Nepal earned her a spot in "The Student 100" at Aston University. An avid trekker, she raised £2450 for children’s education and telemedicine by trekking to Everest Base Camp in 2012. As the founding president of Mukti UK since 2009, she has actively raised funds for the Maiti Nepal Rescue Centre and a Training Centre in Nepal, supporting victims of human trafficking, exemplifying her belief in making a world of difference through her diverse endeavors.

Kushal Limbu

Kushal Limbu, an Invictus Games superstar and former Gurkha soldier, is a testament to resilience and determination. His military service, which began in 2002, was tragically cut short in 2008 due to severe injuries sustained in Afghanistan, resulting in the loss of both legs at the age of 25. Embracing sports as a means of rehabilitation, Kushal explored various adaptive sports, including athletics, sitting volleyball, wheelchair basketball, and golf, which not only aided his physical recovery but also reignited his self-belief. His dedication and hard work culminated in a triumphant moment at the 2018 Invictus Games in Sydney, where he won four medals. Kushal's journey from a young Gurkha to a celebrated Invictus Games medalist and passionate golfer is a stirring example of overcoming adversity and achieving greatness against all odds.

Deepa Gurung

Deepa Gurung - DYG Speaker

Deepa Gurung, better known as GDiipa, is a trailblazing Nepali entrepreneur who has revolutionized Nepal's cosmetics industry with her brand, Pari Cosmetic. Born in Nepal, raised in Hong Kong, and now residing in the UK, Deepa's early fascination with makeup led her to become a renowned makeup artist and social media influencer on YouTube and Instagram. Recognizing a gap in Nepal for high-quality cosmetics, she embarked on creating the first-ever Nepali cosmetics brand, sourcing materials from Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, and the UK. Starting with makeup brushes, she expanded her line to meet local demand, focusing on quality and sustainability. Deepa's products, known for their eco-friendly packaging and ethically sourced ingredients, reflect her commitment to both beauty and environmental responsibility. As a beauty entrepreneur and a 2023 Miss World America judge, Deepa's influence extends beyond cosmetics; through her platforms, she advocates for self-love and empowerment, teaching makeup skills while inspiring confidence and self-expression in women.

Sagar Gurung

Sagar Gurung, better known as IamSega, epitomizes the remarkable journey from a computational mathematics graduate to a travel vlogger and a distinguished digital entrepreneur. Hailing from Pokhara, Nepal, and born on September 13, 1997, he initially showcased his talents in software development, a testament to his academic prowess and numerical aptitude. Nevertheless, it was his zeal for content creation that propelled him to launch GUNDA Athletes and GUNDA London, carving out a niche as a celebrated travel vlogger in the UK. His YouTube channel, boasting a following of over 1 million subscribers, is a trove of exhilarating global adventures and cultural explorations, earning him collaborations with notable figures like Nirmal Purja. At just 26 years old, Sagar's transformation from a skilled tech professional to an influential personality in the realms of travel vlogging and digital enterprise is remarkable. Adding to his diverse portfolio, Sagar also held the prestigious role of a judge in the 2023 Miss World America pageant.

Pushpa Sunuwar

Pushpa Sunuwar - DYG Speaker

Originally from Nepal and now a trailblazer in the UK, Pushpa Sunuwar is the first Nepalese female Police Constable in the UK police force, making significant strides in various departments including Frontline policing, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) specializing in Rape and Sexual Offence, and People Strategy as a Talent Advisor. Actively serving the Nepalese community, she focuses on crime awareness and mentorship, alongside her athletic feats in the demanding 2017 Mustang Trail Race and fundraising endeavors like the Three Peaks Challenge for Child Rescue Nepal and supporting female trail runners in Nepal through her Everest Base Camp and Island Peak expedition(2020).

 

Her extraordinary journey from a pizza girl to an esteemed role in UK law enforcement, earning her the Habamoment INEA 2020 Outstanding Achievement Award, exemplifies her resilience, professionalism, and dedication to impactful contributions in both Nepal and the UK.

Raju Gurung

Raju Gurung, an inspiring property investor and engaging YouTube vlogger, co-runs the successful property investment company, The Property Brothers, alongside his brother. Specializing in helping new investors build their property portfolios, Raju extends his expertise through Razos Vlogs - The Property Brothers, his YouTube channel and social media platform. He shares his journey and insights into property investment, also offering courses aimed at teaching the right strategies for property investment and portfolio building for wealth and cashflow. His company’s services range from deal sourcing to lettings and management, catering to various property investment needs. Known as an exceptional speaker and trainer, Raju is also admired for his hardworking, determined, and down-to-earth nature. He is a regular on social media, where he actively shares his knowledge and learning, making him a go-to source for aspiring property investors.

Manju Gurung Rai

Manju Gurung Rai - DYG Speaker

Manju Gurung Rai is an embodiment of resilience and inspiration, whose life story resonates with courage and determination. Starting as a science student with a deep passion for sports, she broke barriers in the 80s by becoming the best Zonal volleyball player and the first female assistant coach, later full coach, for the Nepali National Women’s Volleyball team, following her diploma from the Punjab Sport Institute. Moving to the UK in 1991, Manju's relentless drive led her to various roles before graduating from the University of Buckinghamshire, becoming one of the first Nepalese Registered Nurses in the UK at 40. Now serving as Deputy Manager and Clinical Lead in a nursing and residential home, she also co-founded Sapan Entertainment Ltd, fostering young talent. At 54, Manju's journey includes overcoming breast cancer in 2017, a testament to her indomitable spirit. Her belief, "She believed she could so she did," mirrors her roles from a former Volleyball Coach at Rastriya Khelkud Parishad to an academic achiever at Buckinghamshire Chiltern University, truly making her a role model for many.

Samir Gurung

Samir Gurung, also known as Shishi, is a talented British Nepali actor and dancer from London, with a rich background spanning Hong Kong, Nepal, and the UK. Since 2009, he has showcased his acting and dancing skills in numerous short films, advertisements, and commercial projects, most notably as the lead in "1915 Legend of the Gurkhas" on Amazon Prime. Additionally, he holds prominent roles in upcoming films "Chukul" and "Tiger's Nest." Beyond acting, Samir has a strong academic foundation in International Relations and European Studies, coupled with a deep interest in social policy and environmental politics. As a co-founder of Parcha Production, he has significantly contributed to the Nepalese community in the UK, known for his involvement in promotional videos, parody skits, event hosting, and dance performances. His commitment extends to volunteering in youth engagement and policy review, reflecting his diverse talents and passions in the arts, academics, and community service.

Aadeep Rana

Aadeep Rana - DYG Speaker

Aadeep Rana, a formidable Mixed Martial Artist from Nepal and now making a mark in London, embarked on his martial arts journey in 2008 at Rage Fitness Center in Kathmandu. With a diverse skill set in kickboxing, Kyokushin Karate, jujitsu, and Muay Thai, he has been a fierce competitor on both national and international stages. After moving to London in 2014 and training at Gym London South, Aadeep has participated in numerous fights, notably the 'The Ultimate Contender' tournament where he was the runner-up, and recently achieved a remarkable 35-second knockout in a K1 fight. Born in Hong Kong to a UK army family and raised in Lalitpur, Nepal, Aadeep is not only known for his aggressive fighting style and knockout prowess but also for his dedication to teaching Mixed Martial Arts to the youth in his community. His inspiring journey from a young aspirant to a celebrated K1 fighter was featured on the cover of WAVE Magazine's FEB-MARCH 2017 issue, symbolizing his status as an influential figure in the world of martial arts.

Abinash Joshi

Abinash Joshi is the founder of the UK Nepal Powerlifting movement, a testament to his passion for fitness and strength training, particularly powerlifting.  Alongside his team of five, Abinash has established strong connections within the Nepalese fitness community in the UK, gaining support from notable Nepalese powerlifters. Committed to philanthropy, his team raised over £1400 for Oxfam and the Gurkha Welfare Trust by participating in the 100km trail walker in 2018. Professionally, Abinash excels as a graduate Engineer, currently working as a Senior Satellite Systems Engineering Consultant at e2E. His diverse interests include both indoor and outdoor climbing, advocating for it as a fun fitness option for youth. He also holds significant roles as the Vice Chairman of the Nepal Engineers' Association UK and a member of the Board of Mentors at the Nepalese Space Research Association (NESRA), demonstrating his wide range of skills and dedication to various pursuits.

Dhan Tamang - DYG Speaker

Dhan Tamang

A true master of coffee artistry, Dhan is a six-time UK Latte Art Champion and a finalist in the 2016 World Latte Art Championship. 

 

His book "Coffee Art" has been translated into six languages, spreading his intricate techniques and designs worldwide. 

 

Dhan's influence extends to co-founding Coffee Lab, serving as a Barista Trainer, and being a Brand Ambassador for The Good Cup, Barista & Co, and Latte Art Factory. 

 

He is celebrated for his innovative use of color in latte art, inspiring baristas globally.

Sapana Roka

Named one of BBC's 100 Most Influential Women of 2020, Sapana is a dedicated social worker in Nepal.

She arranges for the dignified cremation of abandoned bodies, ensuring they receive proper post-mortem examinations.

 

Her work extends to collaborating with the Homeless Management and Rehabilitation Center in Kathmandu, where she provides traditional Hindu funeral rites to the deceased.

Sapana's journey stems from her own experiences on the streets and her involvement with Action for Social Change, highlighting her incredible strength and empathy.

Ruden Bhutia - DYG Speaker

Ruden Bhutia

Ruden Bhutia is the founder of Runderbolts, a running community focused on physical and mental well-being.

 

Ruden's remarkable achievements include completing a Triple Marathon at the London Marathon 2023, running a 100k Ultra Marathon, and conquering the grueling 108 Miles Spine Race in 2024, known as Britain's most brutal race.

 

With a background in Marketing Communications and Advertising, Ruden's vision for Runderbolts has fostered community cohesion and supported international charity projects.

Resma Rajbhandari

Resma Rajbhandari holds an MBBS degree and an additional intercalated BSc in Sports and Exercise Medicine from Queen Mary, University of London. Despite being diagnosed with dyslexia during her university years, Resma graduated with honors and served as the Basketball 1st Team Captain, earning recognition as the QMSU Club Captain of the Year.

In 2019, Resma founded Ma Khelchu, a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing sports participation among Nepali girls and women, breaking down barriers and promoting physical activity and community connections.

 

Furthermore, Resma serves as a Captain in the British Army Medical Services, having completed her training at The Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. Her inspiring journey and unwavering commitment to medicine, sports, and community service make her an exceptional speaker for the DYG event.

Sagar Gurung

Sagar Gurung, originally from Nepal and now residing in the UK, is a qualified marketer and experienced brand designer. He is the founder of Underadar, established in 2018. Underadar began as a clothing brand in 2019 and has since evolved into a platform for creatives, a branding and marketing agency, and an event organizer.

Sagar holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Illustration from the University for the Creative Arts and is a Level 4 CIM Qualified Marketer. As an entrepreneur and full-time business owner, he is passionately dedicated to building his businesses and pursuing his dreams.

In addition to his entrepreneurial ventures, Sagar is the Creative Director of the “UNDER THE RADAR” docuseries, “Undiscovered” E-zine, and “Unscripted” podcast. This diverse range of projects showcases his commitment to creativity and innovation.
